RESOLUTION NO. 92-60
FOREST GROVE CITY LIBRARY GIFT POLICY
JUNE, 1992
Forest Grove City Library welcomes gifts and donations.
MEMORIAL BOOKS GIFT POLICY
In order to be consistent with the Library's selection policy, the Library prefers to select its own titles. The donor may suggest or specify a subject area. A commemorative bookplate will be placed in the book with the wording determined by the donor. All accepted gifts will be acknowledged with a note to the person(s) whom the donor specifies.
Individuals wishing to provide for a memorial book may give an amount of money and leave the choice of the book or books to the Library staff. A book of equal or greater value will be selected. Or the donor may examine the current new books that the Library has received and select a book. In this case, the donor pays the actual cost.
USED MATERIALS GIFT POLICY
The Library will accept used printed, audio and visual materials with the understanding that the disposition of the items will be determined by the Library. Some of the used materials may be added to the Library's collection, some may be made available to the Friends of the Library for their Book Sales, some put out for sale or for free in the Library, or some may be discarded.
Upon request, the Library will provide a receipt that lists only the number and types of items donated. The Library will not specify value.
Gifts will be subject to the same selection and retention criteria as all other Library materials.
CASH GIFT POLICY
The Library is happy to work with any person who wishes to give a building- or program-enhancing gift. Cash gifts to the Library are tax deductible. Those making such gifts may suggest how they would like them to be spent. If the receipt of a cash gift is contingent upon specific use, then the donor should ask for a review and approval before making the gift.
The City reserves the right to refuse gifts for which the City is unwilling to accept the upkeep responsibilities, or for which the terms as specified by the donors are not acceptable, or further, any gift that does not enhance the current Library priorities or programs.
The Library appreciates the interest and support of all donors.
