Oregon Reads 2009

What if every Oregonian read the same book?

"Critics are by no means the end of the law. Do not think all is over with you because you articles are rejected. It may be that the editor has his drawer full, or that he does not know enough to appreciate you, or you have not gained a reputation, or he is not in a mood to be pleased. A critic's judgment is like that of any intelligent person. If he has experience, he is capable of judging whether a book will sell. That is all."

—Lavina Goodell Junior editor, Harper's Bazaar

Your Library Card

Getting a Card

Library cards are free to all Washington County residents and/or property owners.  Bring identification showing name and current address when applying for your card.  Parents may use their identification to get a card for their children who are able to sign their first and last names on the card.  Cards may be used at all the Washington County Cooperative Library Services member libraries.  Be aware that each library owns its own materials, and some checkout periods may vary.

Borrowing Limits
Items owned by the Forest Grove City Library may be checked out for three weeks.  They may be renewed two times if no one has reserved them.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items
You may renew your own items and check the status of your library account:

You will need to have your card number and password for both these options.

Placing Holds
Items may be reserved by placing holds with your library card number and password, in the library on the library catalog, or on the Internet on the online catalog.  Library staff can assist you at the Reference Desk, or call 503-992-3337, or email fgl-reference@wccls.org.  You will receive an automated call when your hold item arrives.  Holds will be sent back if not picked up within 7 days.

Overdues
Due to the library's fine-free policy, all overdue items must be cleared before new items can be checked out.  You will be reminded of overdues via email, telephone or mail, and referred to a collection agency if items become more than 45 days overdue.

For more information about library cards, or for library card options for residents of other counties, please see the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) library card page. For information specific to the Forest Grove City Library, see the section on borrower cards in our Circulation Policy.
